Broker's Comments
The Westsail 42 was introduced in 1974 by Westsail Corporation as a serious ocean going passage maker with no compromise. To this day the Westsail 42 is still regarded as a top choice for all committed world cruisers.
We believe this is one of only a few Westsail 42's in the UK & Europe currently available for sale. Unfortunately the boat was lifted ashore in 2003 and has remained there since. Once dry stored both masts were removed and now lie alongside the boat. Many interior features were removed and have been placed in dry storage where they remain. The original engine was removed, and a new one bought (2003). The new (2003) engine was never fitted or used, it is still in original box packaging and has also been dry stored.
Due to water ingress over the years the interior is damaged and some remaining wood fixtures require complete replacement. There are no functional electrical systems onboard, the galley is void of any working units. There are no batteries, soft furnishings, headlining or cosmetics.
In a previous life the boat has been used and sailed extensively having most recently (early 2000's) returned from a South Pacific voyage. The hull was professionally re-fiberglassed when lifted in 2003 and appears to be free of osmosis.
Without doubt a huge project, but surly a boat of this pedigree is deserving. And what a boat it would be, fully refitted and ready to once again roam the oceans as intended.
