Folk Festival Pirates sponsored by Boatshed Wales!
The annual Fishguard Folk Festival is to be sponsored by Boatshed Wales. The two mile "Pirates and Smugglers walk" which is part of the Fishguard Folk Festival, is to be held on Sunday 24th May at 10:30 starting from the Square, Fishguard.
It celebrates the colourful history of the town (which was the last port in Britain to be attacked by pirates) and is a very popular family event. The sponsorship will provide prize money for the "best dressed pirate" - a competition open to all children up to the age of 12. Boatshed Wales will also be sponsoring ‘rum tasting’ at the Singaround, led by Boatshed Broker Alan Coy, and Sea Shanty session to be held at the Ship Inn, Lower Town on Saturday afternoon and Sunday evening of the Festival (adults only!!).
A spokesman for Boatshed Wales said "Our maritime history is something we should all be very proud of! Not only has Pembrokeshire produced some of history's greatest and most colourful Pirates, but ordinary, peaceful, but equally brave sailors who set out from these waters to almost every corner of the globe. This is history we should cherish!"
