All boats have a story, often intertwined with multiple owners, all contributing to the tapestry of the vessel. When it comes to boat ownership, we can all relate to the phrase ‘Blood, Sweat and Tears’ Perhaps this is why, as owners of boats we feel such a personal connection to them, they become an extension of us.

This is the story of a boat called 'Dreamcatcher', her story begins in North Wales and will unfold as she crosses the Atlantic via The Canary islands, Cape Verde islands with planned arrival to Martinique before Christmas.

‘Dreamcatcher’ was rescued by the MD of Boatshed Wales, Mike De Graff from North Wales in 2018. Mike sailed the boat back to Pembrokeshire where he set about restoring the boat- anyone who knows Mike, knows that when he undertakes a task there are no corners cut. Suffice to say, when he’d finished with ‘Dreamcatcher, the boat was fully restored to her former glory.

Following Mike’s ownership the boat passed to Ian and Emma. The boat became a much-loved part of the family, creating memories and providing an introduction to the world of sailing for them and their children.

When Ian and Emma decided to sell ‘Dreamcatcher’ the obvious choice was to return to Mike. Mike secured a sale within a week, not surprising considering the desirability of such a well found and capable yacht.

The boat passed hands again to Lee Meade, Lee instantly became a friend of the Boatshed Wales team, spending several months in Neyland, where he got to know the boat before departing for a prolonged circumnavigation of the world.

Prior to Lee’s departure I made the throw away comment that should the circumstance ever arise I would happily join the boat and assist in anyway required. Fast forward 7 months and here I sit in a small internet café in Las Galletas, hours before departing to the Cape Verde islands and on to Martinique in the Caribbean! Here’s where a rather large thank you is due to Mike, who in great humour made the passing comment on my departure- ‘so dear chap, have a great time sailing my boat, to the Caribbean via some of the most beautiful parts of the world, while I cover your listings….I feel I shall be in debt to Mike for a good long while…

So the story of ‘Dreamcatcher’ continues as and when intermittent internet connections in far flung ports allow for the 2 or so months I am lucky enough to be aboard, stay tuned….
