Over all length is a little over 70 feet however, it is titled as a 68 foot vessel. Custom built as a "one off" from the design plans for a 58 foot Bertram this vessel has aluminum decks and windows. Built by Kato Boat Company of Yokosuka City, Japan who also appears to have built quite a number of Sparkman & Stephens designed sail boats. It was imported to the US during the America’s Cup in 1995 duty paid with intent to sell. After its use as a spectator vessel for the America's Cup the current owner purchased it. Moored then in San Diego he took it to Mexico to have conversions done to the lifelines, boarding platform and painting done. Returning to the Bay Area the boat was then brought to the Northwest where it has remained since. The seller reports it has made “dozens” of trips to Alaska. A 2010 Insurance survey estimated the fair market value of the vessel considerably higher than the current asking price. This boat's systems appear as almost "ship like" in that they are clearly industrial both on the electrical side and plumbing as well.

Broker's Comments

A great value by any measure or comparison, Sea-Going Capability per dollar, Tonnage per dollar, Living Space per dollar, Power per dollar, Feet in Length per dollar, Systems per dollar, the list can go on. Manufactured by the Kato Boatworks Yard in Japan this vessel was constructed from plans that were derived from the popular Bertram 58 design. It is a FRP hull with the decks and portions of the house made from aluminum. She's been used as a comfortable live-aboard and has a huge amount of space (over 800 square feet!). This vessel has traveled to Mexico and is a multiple time Alaskan veteran. With the deep "V" hull and stabilizers it makes her a suitable ocean traveling vessel. Her Command Bridge feels like a ship with great visibility and lots of seating. This vessel also boasts a hard cover enclosed bridge deck. It is well equipped for extended cruises and features systems for pot pulling and fishing (with deck mounted freezers). The aft deck and cockpit are large areas for fishing or entertaining. Built very robustly this vessel compares favorably to either a Bertram or Hatteras Convertible, a Californian CPMY or even an Egg Harbor Yachtfisher.
